Who we are...

Jesse H Jones High School opened on January 27, 1958 with a student body of 1015 students comprised mostly of students from Austin and San Jacinto High Schools. Located in Southeast Houston off Southpark Blvd at 7414 St. Lo,  Jones was, in the words of Art Casper, Houston Press reporter, "Houston's ninth white high school." The clean modern buildings were a welcomed site to the students who had transferred from schools built in the late 1920s. The Falcons played their first district basketball game against the immediate rival, Austin Mustangs on February 20, 1958. The students wanted to cheer but the cheerleaders had not been elected.  The last 50 years have seen dramatic changes. Jones is still known as the Falcons,  but the colors have been changed. The Cadence Commodores are no more and the once peaceful campus is  totally surrounded by a high security fence. Never the less, our Gold and White memories are strong, vivid and lasting. They remain only in our hearts, minds and hopefully this web site... to paraphrase the classic movie,
